My R4-i gets sluggish starting below 50F, and doesn\'t want to start electrically below 40F, though I\'ve kick-started at 38F. Is this due only to the 10-W40 oil? I understand motorcycles using the same oil start with no trouble at low temperatures.

Last Monday, to be sure it would start for my Motorcycle Road Test, (I passed! Life is good.) I put two 100 Watt lamps under the engine overnight, and a good thing too because the temperature got down to 32F.
