I think I found my stalling problem 07 Triton 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
I have been lurking around in the background here for a few weeks mostly because I have been having a load of trouble from my new Vento Triton.

The moped was brand new and at around the 100 mile mark my wife was riding it down the road and it just died. Rolled to a stop and I could not get it to start again. After I let it set for a little while it would start right back up and seemingly run fine. In the 100 miles after I first got it I never felt the choke was working properly so I took it to the dealer and they replaced the auto choke.

That night I rode home from work and it would run a 1/4 mile then quit. Then after about 5-10 minutes it would start back up and run another short distance and quit again.

I went through several days of riding to work at 6pm with no troubles and then when coming home at 4am riding short distances and stalling. I live about 12 miles from work and the final straw was an 8 mile walk home with the moped after I could not get it to restart and the battery died.

I narrowed down that I was having the problems mostly during the early morning hours between 2am and 8am when the temps in Michigan get down in the 60's at night. Yep, sounds silly but again I work midnights and I was having all my troubles early in the morning. I say this only because I never had the trouble riding it during the daytime which for me is after about 1pm and on the way to work at 6pm. It would run great.

The dealer had no idea and kept telling me it ran fine. Well it did at 2pm when they were testing it and they could not duplicate the problem. I video taped the problem one day after I got home from work and spent over an hour of video taping to document the stalling. Again took it to the dealer and they said it ran fine. They would not test it at 4am because they thought it was unnecessary.

So I am at the dealership standing over a moped that I am ready to throw out the door and I start asking about all the emissions plumbing. The dealer had no idea how it was plumbed only that it was there. Go figure. As I am looking at everything and feeling like at a loss I told them I wanted to disconnect the emissions and see if the emissions was causing a problem.

So I start looking at the plumbing and I end up at this little circular valve on the left top rail of the frame back by the gas tank. The valve is a check valve and is about an inch in diameter and an inch thick. I take the valve off the frame and flip it over only to see the diagram on the valve has an arrow for air flow and "TANK" written on it. Of course looking at it I see the arrow is facing the direction of the carb and the "TANK" print is on the carb side of the lines.

I asked if I could see another Vento under the seat because I believed the valve was mounted wrong from the factory and after looking at another Vento determined it was wrong. The valve arrow should be towards the tank and "TANK" on the tank side of the lines.

I pulled the valve and found it full of gasoline. I blew the valve in the direction of the arrow to clean it out and reinstalled it in the proper orientation.

I now have 100 miles of back and forth riding to work and nothing so much as a cough. The moped starts up and runs the way it should.

I hated this moped a week ago and I now love it.

I don't know if this applies to any other models or not but if you are having trouble with stalling while riding along for no reason maybe this is your cause also.

I hope this helps someone.

Best Regards
