Triton 50cc idle question 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0  
I have a new Triton 50cc 2-stroke. It has about 180 miles on it and it wouldn't idle when cold. I adjusted the idle up to 2000rpms while cold, however the idle now is around 3300rpms after the scooter warms up. It also smokes alot when cold.

Is this common? Where should it idle when cold? When hot?

With my 2007 Triton Li I have the idle set at 1900 to 2000 rpms when fully warmed up. This puts the cold idle around 1000 to 1200 rpms. If the scooter has been sitting for a while I have to occasionally give the throttle a little bump during the first minute of warm up to keep it from stalling. Not really a problem. After that the bike will idle up on it's own.

As for the smoke, that's normal with a cold start.

If you scooter has electric remote start set it just high enough that it will start cold
