Two or Four Stroke? 11 Months ago Karma: 0
I have pretty much narrowed my search for a new scooter to a Vento Triton Lithium.

The two Vento dealers in town has two different takes on the Pros & Cons of four and two stroke models. I am not a mechanic but a can turn a wrench when need be. All I know is that:

Four Stroke
Slightly better MPG
Does not burn oil mixed fuel
Requires oil changes
Is harder to work on
Good for the environment

Two Stroke
Better torque and acceleration
Better top speed
Uses separate oil tank and mixes on the fly prior to hitting the carb.
Easy tail pipe mods to increase overall perfomance

I would like to buy the right scooter and would like any feedback you can provide on which is better.

2-stroke is where it's at. Get 'em while you can as the EPA will shut it down by 2010.

It really depends on what your needs are. If you're riding in a city, and you don't have to worry about fast (40+mph) stretches of road, you'll probably be fine with a 4-stroke. If you've got faster stretches, or some nasty traffic, a 2-stroke will probably be safer for you. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference with maintenance for the two, but it's a lot easier to get more performance out of the 2-stroke than the 4-stroke.
