One of my relatives liked my Vento Phantom GT5 and wished to get one or
similar to it. Anyone knows of a good dealer in or near Cocoa,
Florida? Also, My experience with the Phantom has been good and
acceptable for the last two years, but perhaps others can recommend
alternative scooters.

Thanks in advance.

Fred. 6500 miles on Vento Phantom since Sept 2005.

After all the problems with Vento\'s and Strada 4 stroke scooters I
would keep looking, My killer Phantom a 2003 when they where made by
QJ dropped a valve at 5000 miles, With 6500 miles the bomb is ticking,

can\'t just say it\'s because their china made that they are junk or
because some have valve train failure that all will,i remember my dad
had a brand new 95 chevy beretta that droped a valve and jumped time at
only 49,000 miles and completly trashed the engine as it was a
interference engine but i know others that have over 200,000 miles on
the same engines,so the thing is every time you start something that
runs on gasoline something can go wrong at anytime no matter who or
what made it....just my 2 cents worth......dave..

As a ex-dealer I can tell you WAY too many scooters from China fail in
one way or another, Want to read about a 100 emails I have about failures?
I took me 4 years to realize how bad they really are, Wait till
someone has a brake seal fail and gets hurt or killed, And the brake
seals will fail...Just give them time.

OK Sporty. If its true that the seals are a ticking time bomb, do you
have a suggested fix? Are there any reliable seals out there that can
be substituted so we can all feel a little safer on our scoots? I
think this is a good thing to pursue. If you\'re handy its not too bad
having rubber manifolds or airbox hoses going out every 18 months to
2 years because of cracks. However, when it comes to safety items
thats a different matter. If possible, we should catalog all the
potentially dangerous vulnerabilities (other than loose nuts,
connectors, etc.) and share our experiences with corrective actions
and safety "upgrades" . What do you think?
Clive.

A bad brake seal may leak, but it isn\'t an instantaneous failure. If
you inspect your scooter periodically, you would see the leak. Odds are
if you had a seal fail, it would slowly cause the brake to be less and
less effective. Even in the event of total sudden loss of a brake, you
do have a backup on the other wheel. Now for the doom and gloom crowd,
yes, both could fail at the same time. The odds of that are far greater
than those for winning the lottery, so if this concerns you, I suggest
you just stay in bed to keep from getting hit by lightning. Stan
