I wouldnt let it hang down.
That is an oil breather.
I would run it upwards towards a frame
rail and zip tie it as high as possible.

Paul,

And I have seen the ones dangling down blowing oil on the rear tire !
Makes for some scary cornering !

By running it up high, it is harder for the oil to be blown up and out.
That is why you want to run it high as you can.
I have also ran them into a small vented catch can zip tied to the frame to
catch any excess blowbye. (rare)

Also, several factory bullitins have been sent out recomending this way.

Hanging it down below is not recommended...

You can also pick up a crankcase breather filter from your local auto
parts store for about $4. They have a foam-like filter element that
catches oil and can be washed. Most have a larger inlet than the tube
from the crankcase, so you may have to use some ingenuity to get it to
fit.

I hung it down, Back and to the side, I did the Motoman break-in and
had no blow by and if I did I would not run it over.
