I\'m about to buy a windshield for my Vento Phantom

I\'ve read here that CDXMAN.com are selling one that fits fine

They have 2 versions

1. Touring

and 2. Sport

Besides shape, what is the difference between both? I see they protect your hands, but I\'ve read that with one of them you can upgrade your top end... so which one is better?

Now, does anyone has one of these, I know I read once somenoe saying he bought one.

In so, how hard is it to install this thing? I mean do you need to get something else, cause here where I live, that may be a problem.

any pictures?

Looks like the touring is built for scooters with a head lamp up high and the sport is built for something more like the vento phantom body style.  I could see the touring model fitting better on a vespa scooter.

Neuralgia,

I don\'t see the one I got in your images. I got a city touring
model, which looks like the sport image, but is slightly taller. I
recommend city touring. It does not obscure the vision and looks
good. Even with the city touring model, you still get wind on your
helmet, but I\'ve had great results riding in the low 30 deg
mornings. It really reduces wind on your hands and torso. I think
high end performance is slightly improved, but I\'m too lazy to
measure the results.

My original post on this subject was December 31, where I created a
photo album called Windshield - Phantom. That is the city touring
model.

See Message 21428 and related thread regarding installation issues,
which are minimal, if any. The windshield has held its position,
even after getting a small scrape during an emergency stop/slide a
few weeks ago on a wet city street at 20 mph.

hey Curtis, I saw your album just after posting this thread.

Now, those are the only options I see on the kymco webpage, maybe it was my mistake (but they match the description on cbxman)

I loved the windshield you have. Is it the one from cbxman? You\'re saying it\'s called \"City Touring\"? I don\'t see that one, jus TOURING and SPORT

they don\'t have any pictures

I wrote an email, but they haven\'t replied yet

another updtae, sorry for the mess:

For all you guy looking for Curtis\' post here it is

QUOTE:
It
fits nice and does a great job of reducing wind on my hands and
torso. It does not interfere with road vision, as it is almost at the
same angle as your view to the front of the bike.

I had to replace the factory spacer with some bronze thrust washers to
make room for the Puig mounting bracket on the mirror mounts without
leaving a gap under the rubber boot. I cut the rubber boots to allow
the mounting brackets to protrude.

If you want to take a look he has an album on the Y! group.

-------------------- -------------------- -------------------- --------------

I just recieved an email with the following pictures

SPORT:

Seems to me kinda useless

TOURING:

It seems like this is the one to go... It\'s just as the one i posted before that\'s on the Kymco webpage, but without that horrible hole

I hope it really doesn\'t interfere with my vision, and that i can find those \"sapcers\" here in CR.

Anyway, I just wanted to post these so if anyone else is interested can decide for themselves.

Neuralgia,

The following info comes from the message thread I referred you to earlier.  You need to follow the message and all of its replies to get all of the useful information.  The pictures you just posted on myvento.net of the guy holding the tinted touring windshield is a picture of the one I have.

The windshield kit was purchased from cbxman.com, for $112 plus s/h.  USPS delivery.

http:// www.cbxman.com/ detail.aspx?ID=3685
It is a Puig windshield.  Please note that the windshield appears tall in the photos, but it does not obscure your road vision, so tinted color is fine.  It blocks the wind from hitting your hands and your torso, and reduces wind to the head.  I think my top end has improved, and my driving comfort has improved.  No problems with stability, as I tested it in 20+ gusts today going all directions. The instructions are in Italian, so they weren\'t much help.  I replaced the stock metal spacer under the mirror mounts to accommodate the approx 1/8\" windshield mounting brackets, which fit at the base of the mirror mounts.  The stock mounting screw works well whether you change the spacer or not.  I found some bronze thrust washers at the hardware store that had the right ID and OD, to reduce the gap caused when reusing the stock spacers.
