Winterizing your scooter. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn

We are sending out this reminder to all of our customers about prepping their scooters for the upcoming cold winter months of hibernation for your scoot! Take the time to do it right and you will be rewarded with a scooter that starts and runs good come spring time. Ignore it, and you will be looking at more spring time work and waiting in line to spend money to get it running right. Remember, your warranty only covers defective parts. Not lack of preventative maintenance. It is imperative that you store your scooter away properly. And don’t forget that all 4-stroke scooters need their valves adjusted at certain miles. Check your owners manual for your schedule…!
1. Add fuel stabilizer to your gas tank. Run the scooter a few minutes to make sure the stabil gets into the carb.
2. Fill your gas tank full.
3. Drain your engine oil and refill with clean oil (4-Strokes only)
4. Place a piece of duct tape over the exhaust pipe exit, your air filter inlet and over the side cover vent hole
(Mice love to make nests in the weirdest places.)
5. Spray a light coating of WD40 over all exposed metal parts.
6. Wax all painted/polished surfaces.
7. Remove battery and take into a warm house/garage.
8. Charge the battery once a month with a trickle charger. (we have chargers you can safely leave on all winter if you wish)
9. Place your scooter on the center stand to take weight off the tires.
Removing your scooter from storage in the spring.
1. Install charged battery.
2. Drain old gas out and install fresh fuel.
3. Drain carb. Bowl of old fuel.
4. Remove duct tape from exhaust and intake and vent..
5. Wipe down all surfaces with WD40
6. Make sure oil tank is filled. (on 2-stroke models)
7. Add air to the tires. (32lbs for most)
8. It may be hard to start your scooter the first time in the spring.
Do not despair. It takes a little cranking to get the fresh fuel to Flow from the tank to the carb. Be patient. Don’t spin the motor over too much, Use only short burst of cranking. Pause a little in between… Keep the charger on the battery, as you try starting it if needed. Use the kick starter if need be, to prevent overheating the starter motor..
Have a fresh spark plug ready just in case.
Enjoy the new riding season!!!!!
