Hi,

I find red background very annoying. It's hard to focus on the text because of red strokes on the left and right of the page

At least the tips for designers does not suggest to use intense colours for background.

Red is good just for accents.

I disagree, but we'll see about implementing maybe a straight black background on the upcoming weekend.

I wasn't digging the all black sidebars, so I flipped the image and made it fade from red to black instead of black to read. It looks pretty nice, and hopefully this is what you were looking for as far as readability as well.
